Some of the signs that your pet may require urgent medical attention include:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Ingestion of a toxic substance or foreign object
  • Broken bones
  • Cuts, lacerations or puncture wounds
  • Vomiting or diarrhea lasting longer than 24 hours
  • Bleeding
  • Trauma, such as from a fall or being hit by a car
  • Swollen or tender abdomen
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Lameness
  • Disorientation
  • Foaming at the mouth
  • Convulsions/seizures
  • Loss of consciousness

If you notice any of these signs, seek help immediately. We always recommend calling ahead when an emergency occurs. This enables us to evaluate the situation, provide first aid instructions and prepare the hospital and our team for your pet’s arrival. Of course, should the nature of your pet’s emergency be too urgent for a call, don’t hesitate to come directly in to the clinic for immediate attention.

We sincerely hope you never experience the need for emergency veterinary care. If, by chance, you do, we want you to know who to call. The team at Hambright Animal Hospital will be here to provide the highest level of care available.
