Did you know that Hambright Animal Hospital is independently owned and operated? We're local, and proud of it!
Our owner, Dr. John Houghton, grew up on a small dairy farm in rural Maine, where neighbors knew one another, looked out for each other, and lent a helping hand whenever needed. When he became the owner of Hambright Animal Hospital, he wanted to bring that same small-town sense of community and personal connection to veterinary medicine.
His vision was simple: Create a veterinary hospital where every pet is treated like family, every client feels valued, and every team member enjoys coming to work.
Dr. Houghton believes that when our team feels supported, appreciated, and genuinely enjoys what they do, that passion translates into better medicine, stronger relationships, and more compassionate care for the pets and families we serve.
As a Huntersville resident raising his own family in this community, Dr. Houghton also believes strongly in giving back. Since becoming the owner of Hambright, he has proudly supported numerous local schools, youth sports teams, neighborhood swim teams, charities, and other community organizations. We believe that investing in our community makes it a better place for all of us.
