Dr. Kayleen Hammer is originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She earned her undergraduate degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University, where she had the opportunity to travel to Thailand and help perform veterinary work on rescued Asian elephants. She remained at Iowa State University to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine before moving to North Carolina for a new chapter.
Growing up, Dr. Hammer formed a special connection with a therapy dog during a hospital stay. This experience solidified her passion for fostering the human animal bond, and she is grateful to support that connection each day through her work in veterinary medicine. Her professional interests include internal medicine and pain management.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Hammer enjoys hiking, crafting, and taking weekend trips to the beach and the mountains. She also enjoys pushing her cats in strollers around her neighborhood.
