Toviel

Veterinary Assistant

For Toviel, veterinary medicine began with curiosity and grew into a calling. At 13 years old, she picked up a veterinary science book through her 4-H club, not realizing it would spark a lifelong passion. What began as a reluctant fascination with animal behavior soon turned into a deep desire to understand, communicate with, and advocate for animals that cannot speak for themselves.

Her journey took her through many meaningful experiences: volunteering at NODA Animal Hospital under Dr. Oona Gayle, working with horses at Shining Hope Farms’ equine therapy program, and enrolling in Ashworth College’s Veterinary Technician program, where she is still pursuing her degree. Through her externships at Pressly Animal Hospital and Banfield Pet Hospital, she gained hands-on experience across both private and corporate practice, sharpening her skills in patient care, client communication, and teamwork. In June 2025, she joined Hambright Animal Hospital, excited to continue growing her skills in a supportive, learning-focused environment.

One defining moment in her journey came in early 2024, during what should have been a routine dental cleaning. When a patient went into cardiac arrest under anesthesia, Toviel found herself performing CPR for the first time alongside her team. Despite their efforts, the pet could not be revived. That experience, while heartbreaking, fueled her determination to learn more about anesthesia and patient monitoring areas she has since embraced with even greater care and responsibility.

Today, Toviel loves assisting in surgical and dental procedures, particularly anesthesia monitoring. The attention to detail, methodical approach, and constant vigilance keep her sharp and engaged, while the responsibility of safeguarding each patient motivates her to bring her best every time. She also enjoys performing dental cleanings, taking pride in the visible transformation from start to finish, and in knowing she’s contributing to a pet’s overall health. Another favorite part of her role is client education - breaking down complex information into clear, manageable insights and seeing that “lightbulb moment” when an owner feels empowered to care for their pet.

A Charlotte native, Toviel balances her professional passion with a wide variety of interests. She plays piano, loves volleyball, stays active through exercise, and enjoys time with friends and family—whether that’s gaming, traveling, sharing good food, or catching a new TV show or movie. She doesn’t have pets right now, but dreams of one day owning a Siberian Husky, her favorite breed.

For Toviel, veterinary medicine isn’t just about treating patients - it’s about bridging the gap between science, empathy, and communication. Whether she’s monitoring a patient under anesthesia, helping restore a healthy smile, or guiding a client through their pet’s care, she brings patience, focus, and compassion to every moment.
