Lauren

Veterinary Assistant & Floor Lead

Lauren Frazier is a Veterinary Assistant and Floor Lead at Hambright Animal Hospital. They joined the team in August 2024 after moving to Charlotte from Texas with their life partner, bringing more than 12 years of veterinary experience to the practice.

Lauren’s path into veterinary medicine began in high school, when they started working in the boarding kennel of an animal hospital. Quickly cross-trained as a technician, they discovered a passion for combining medicine with hands-on animal care. With the exception of a short six-month break to explore a career in wildlife, Lauren has been dedicated to veterinary medicine ever since. Their love for the field continues to grow, fueled by the constant opportunities to learn, connect, and make a difference in the lives of both pets and their families.

One unforgettable moment in Lauren’s career came while working with two non-releasable bobcat brothers. When the cats slow-blinked at Lauren for the first time, it signaled trust and mutual understanding - a moment that deepened their appreciation for building bonds with animals of all kinds.

In practice, Lauren especially enjoys educating pet owners, giving them the knowledge and tools to be the best caregivers possible. They are skilled in phlebotomy and are committed to fear-free handling, always striving to keep patients calm and comfortable. Most of all, Lauren treasures the relationships they form with clients and their pets, believing that these connections enrich both their own life and the patient’s experience.

Originally from Texas, Lauren grew up in a large family and was deeply influenced by their lifelong love of animals and nature, an interest sparked and nurtured in part by Steve Irwin’s legacy. Today, they share life in Charlotte with their partner, Juan, and a lively household of pets: three dogs, Perseus, Bane, and Sirius; two cats, Kiggy and Marceline; and a few mice. Each has their own quirks - from Perseus’s wise “old soul” demeanor to Bane’s mischievous dachshund intelligence, Sirius’s joyful spirit and remarkable recovery from spinal surgery, Kiggy’s clingy affection, and Marceline’s unmatched sweetness despite a rough start in life. Together, they make up a family filled with love, resilience, and plenty of personality
