Dr. Lori Hoe of Main Street Animal Hospital in Cornelius and Houghton are working together as a joint venture.
The full service veterinary hospital will provide preventative care, surgical care, internal medicine, orthopedics, dentistry, puppy and kitten care, geriatric care, emergency medicine, dog and cat boarding, doggy day care and grooming and boarding.
Prior to opening Hambright Animal Hospital, Houghton worked as an overnight ER doctor for two years, and then worked in a general practice in Charlotte for four years.
Aside from surgery, he enjoys bonding with his clients and helping them understand and manage acute and chronic diseases of their pet, such as diabetes, epilepsy and kidney disease.
Houghton gained a love of animals growing up on the coast of Maine milking cows on his father’s dairy farm, while surrounded by cows, horses, dogs, cats and pigs.
Pursuing his childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian, he completed his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and achieved his veterinary degree from the University of Georgia, college of veterinary medicine.
He interned at Texas A&M college of veterinary medicine. While in Texas, Houghton met and married his wife, also a veterinarian, and followed her back to her home state of North Carolina. They are now Huntersville residents.
